Monette started her career in 1980 as a leasing agent in North Houston, after attending Sam Houston State University. Working seven years onsite, she left her managerial position to work for a local real estate management company as a property accountant. During her eight years of employment with them she was promoted to Cash Manager Supervisor. She supervised seven employees and helped convert the outsourcing of financial statements of over 50 properties to be produced in house by her department. Monette, then started working for a Chicago based real estate developer who developed commercial office space, townhomes, condominiums and apartment communities throughout the United States, where she worked both in Houston and later in Chicago. For twelve years as the Director of Corporate and Property Accounting, her responsibility consisted of the day to day and monthly accounting operations. She also, handled the construction draws and the closings of sales for the condominiums and townhomes as well as maintained and produced weekly sales summary reports on three concurrent projects for the sales staff, construction supervisors, brokers and lenders.
